Outdoor Play

We consider outdoor play to be an essential part of children’s learning and development so we endeavour to get the children outside every day.

We have 3 outdoor play areas. The first is an enclosed decked area, situated at the rear of the building which was completed in April 2016. There is now a smaller area directly outside the preschool room, also at the rear of the building.

We also use a grassed area to the side of the building which was recently fenced off in 2019 and is undergoing renovation.

Our nursery Guinea Pigs (Albie & Dobby) like to play out too and enjoy eating the grass in our side garden.

Children have access to a range of equipment such as balance bikes, bats and balls, skipping ropes, balancing stilts, as well as large loose parts such as tyres, scaffolding planks and cable drums.

We have a small selection of waterproof suits, spare coats, Wellington boots scarves, hats and gloves etc so that children can play out in all weathers however it is preferable for parents to provide weather appropriate clothing and footwear.

We are lucky enough to have a grassed area surrounded by beautiful trees just adjacent to the setting which has steps leading down to the Milnsbridge Canal where children enjoy exploring whilst feeding the ducks.

We also regularly take the children out for walks in the local area and visit the local park, Golcar and Huddersfield library and Colne Valley Garden Centre.
