Toddler Room

The Toddler Room is located upstairs on the 2nd floor and is adjacent to the Baby Room. There is a carpeted room at the far end of the baby room which is used for sleep times as well as providing a quiet space when children want to relax.

All children are assigned a Key Person who will be responsible for the majority of your child’s daily needs. This helps your child form bonds and enables our home from home environment. As many of our staff work part time your child will also have a Buddy Key Person. Toddler Room caters for children aged 2 to 3 years. The ratio in toddler room is 1 adult to 4 children.

Toddlers ‘Find their Name’ and Self Register by pegging their photo/name card to a washing line. Each child has their own named Peg and Drawer. As children gain confidence they begin to explore further and can participate in a wide range of educational and fun activities. Toddlers is essentially a ‘mini preschool room’ and they have the same resources on a smaller scale. We provide a large selection of open ended resources including large construction, planks, cable drums, bricks, small world animals, trains, and cars. Authentic role play items are readily available with lots of fabric for den making and lots of loose parts so children can learn through play. We have lots of books in the comfy book area which has its own den as well as around the room and story baskets with props, puppets, and musical instruments. Children also enjoy sand, messy and wet play, an open access painting easel, open access mark making and creative resources amongst many other things.

Your child will undergo their Thriving Kirklees 2 Year Old Health & Learning Review (or 2 Year Check) whilst attending our Toddler Room.

Verbal feedback is given on collection of your child’s to keep you informed of their day at nursery including nappy changes, sleeps, and mealtimes.

Parents are required to provide nappies and baby wipes.
