Caring for your child

Care at Charley’s Angels is provided by experienced and qualified staff at all times. Ofsted ratio of adults to children are maintained. We recruit staff, not only on the basis of their qualifications, professionalism, and experience but also for their personal qualities. We look for enthusiasm, dedication and teamwork, maturity, and a genuine love of children. All staff have an enhanced DBS Check to ensure they are suitable to work with young children. Charley is assisted in the day to day running of the setting by a management team. Deputy Manager Becky Brown plus Assistant Managers Rachel, Becca and Sheri. Becca is a qualified Early Years Teacher (EYT) and leads our preschool room. Sheri has recently returned from maternity leave with her second child. Sheri will shortly complete her BA Hons in Early Childhood studies and will then complete her Early Years Teacher Training.

We have a dedicated Nursery Chef, Charley’s partner Richard, who prepares fresh healthy meals on site for the children in our food hygiene rated kitchen.

Many of the staff are parents themselves and have worked in childcare in various capacities for many years. Each room has staff permanent to that room to ensure familiarity and consistency for the children and parents. Each room has at least one Manager with overall responsibility for leading the room. This ensures that children are making good progress, standards are maintained, good teamwork exists, and the room runs smoothly and efficiently.

The nursery is committed to on-going training and development of staff. All of our staff are qualified to Level 3 or above with the exception of 2 Early Years Apprentices who are working towards Early Years qualifications with Realise training. Almost all staff including the proprietors hold a Paediatric First Aid certificate. The few staff without Paediatric First Aid will be trained as soon possible (COVID Dependent). By valuing our team, we hope to ensure a low staff turnover providing you and your child with continuity of care.

We understand how hard it can be to leave your little one. We offer settling in sessions at the nursery so that your child can acclimatise in their own time. Each child is assigned a Key Person who will be responsible for the majority of your child’s daily needs as well as maintaining your child’s online learning journey. Your child will also have a ‘Buddy Key Person’ which helps your child form bonds and ensures a smooth transition throughout the setting. The Key Person provides a ‘go to’ for parents and will conduct termly parent’s meetings to discuss your child’s development and individual progress.

At Charley’s Angels we advocate learning through play. The nursery day revolves around each individual child’s interests through careful observation, assessment and “in the moment planning”. Children are exposed to all areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) within a fun, nurturing, thoughtfully planned, enabling environment. Children experience a range of both familiar and new skills which they can practice, explore, investigate and learn. Through a variety of continuous provision including loose parts and authentic resources, children are stimulated into wanting to learn thus becoming well prepared for their individual next stages

We work in partnership with parents, after all nobody knows your child better than you! We welcome parental contributions and encourage parents to access their child’s online learning journeys which are powered by the Tapestry application. All parents have access to their own child’s online learning journey. You can look at this at any time, add comments to observations, contribute to ‘focus weeks’ and share WOW moments from home. We hold regular Parents Meetings at your convenience and staff should also be available for informal chats at the end of the day whenever you need them.

Prior to COVID-19 we operated an open door policy, where parents were welcome to drop in and see us anytime. Unfortunately due to the Pandemic we are unable to do this at the moment. If you want to drop in and see what we are all about then contact us to make an appointment.

We look forward to meeting you.
